FAQs

  • For millennia, men gathered together around campfires to share our stories – stories of the hunt, of wisdom, of rites of passage, and of our families and communities. Today, many of us feel disconnected from an embodied sense of belonging among men. Men’s group is a call back to community and brotherhood, in service to a more just and thriving world for all.

Wholehearted Masculine men's groups are facilitated spaces for men to be real with themselves and each other. Together, we will compassionately identify the core stories that have defined us and help each other walk new, empowering pathways in our lives. We draw on men’s work practices passed down across generations as well as the emergent wisdom that every participant contributes to the spaces we co-create together.

    • Men and masculine-identifying individuals ages 18+ based anywhere in the world. We affirm that trans men are men.

    • Men who seek to learn, grow, and be accountable within a supportive community.

    • Men who seek a sense of embodied connection to their authentic masculine power.

    • Men who understand that change begins from within and seek to take responsibility for their own healing, growth, and transformation.

    • Men who are willing to explore the ways their masculinity intersects with other parts of their identities and experiences (including race, dis/ability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, religion, nationality, etc.).

    • Men who understand that personal healing and collective healing are intertwined and are committed to showing up in service to build a more just and equitable world for all.

  • Our format varies somewhat based on the type of session you're attending, the group size, and any emergent needs, but a typical session includes:

    • Check-ins, where each group member has space to share

    • Embodiment practices to help ground and become more present

    • Accountability support to help you grow into the man you truly are

    • Emergent group work that dives deep into the challenges that you and other men are facing

    • Celebration, appreciation, and acknowledgment for our progress and learning

  • Our society teaches men to bottle up their emotions, to abandon intimacy and connection in order to avoid looking weak, and to pursue status and power over others in an attempt to affirm their self-worth. Without the skills or support to express feelings in healthy and authentic ways, we can become numb to the raw power and sensuality of existence. This disconnectedness can lead to destructive behaviors such as addiction, the need for control, and even violence. What most men want is to feel loved, connected, and alive – and yet far too often our cultural conditioning keeps us distant, detached, and depressed.

Today, men from around the world are co-creating a new story of masculinity by exploring the power of healthy vulnerability in the community. Men are actively working to heal our wounds from the old story of masculinity that has left many of us emotionally shut down, sensually deprived, and unsure how to access or live our purpose in the world. We are leaning into our fears and learning from our failures as we discover what it means to live a life of deep connection, purpose, and fulfillment – as wholehearted men. We are redefining what it means to be a man in the 21st century, starting from within our own hearts. Join us.

  • We believe that some of the deepest personal work that men need to do is best held in spaces with other men. As men, we often don’t have a lot of places in which we feel comfortable sharing our emotions and our vulnerability. Our goal here is to support each other so we can show up more fully for ourselves and the people we care about. By leaning into the language of feeling we co-create the version of masculinity we want in the world.

  • Wholehearted Masculine offers local men's circles in areas where we have trained facilitators among our membership. The best way to help us expand our network is to join our online men's group and consider becoming a facilitator yourself!
